About The Position
Horse Person – Private Breeding Farm, New Zealand We are a private, family-run horse breeding farm with 21 horses in New Zealand and the only Akhal-Teke breeder in the country. We also keep other horse breeds. Our horses live out naturally in paddocks. Horse welfare, calm handling and non-violent methods are very important to us. We are looking for a reliable and experienced horse person to join our small team. Horses on the farm • Foals • Weanlings • Yearlings • Young horses • Breeding mares (including pregnant mares) • Stallions • Retired horses Main duties • Daily horse handling and care • Working with horses of all ages • Handling of pregnant mares, monitoring and assisting foaling • Assisting with natural breeding • Young horse handling and basic training • Some riding and preparation of young horses • Feeding, checking horses • Paddock management, moving horses between paddocks • Organising and planning daily horse routines • Grooming, rugging, basic health checks • Assisting the veterinarian and farrier • General stable and farm work related to horses What we are looking for • Experience with horses of different ages, including breeding • Experience or interest in foaling and breeding management • Calm, patient and responsible approach • No violent training methods • Good organisation skills and ability to take responsibility • Ability to work independently and within a small team • Basic English is enough What we offer • Long-term position • Calm and respectful working environment • Natural horse management • Support with New Zealand work visa for the right candidate • Accommodation on-site Location: New Zealand Salary will be discussed (depends on experience) Please send your CV and a short description of your experience, preferably also videos of your work
