We are seeking an experienced and passionate Lead Equine Coordinator to help oversee the care, management, and development of our herd while leading our equine programs and ensuring the safety and well-being of both our horses and guests. Position Overview The Lead Equine Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the daily care and management of the horses at Redemption Ranch, including a variety of riding horses, ponies, and green horses (those in early training). This role requires someone who is confident in working with horses at various levels of training and is excited to lead programs that integrate these horses into therapeutic activities. The Lead Equine Coordinator will work closely with our ranch team to ensure the highest standards of care for the horses, while also leading group rides and other equine-assisted healing programs. This role also involves mentoring and overseeing other equine staff, managing horse training schedules, and being a part of our overall mission to provide support and healing through horses. Key Responsibilities: Horse Care and Management: You will be responsible for overseeing the care of a diverse herd of horses, including daily riding, feeding, grooming, and exercise routines. Training and Riding: Ride and assist with training green horses daily. Your ability to work with horses that are new to riding or training is critical to this role. Lead Equine Programs: Lead group rides, pony swims, and other equine-assisted therapeutic programs, ensuring all activities are safe and enjoyable for participants. Supervise Team Members: Mentor and support the equine team, assisting with training and development and ensuring high standards in all aspects of equine care. Health and Safety: Maintain knowledge of equine first aid, safety protocols, and emergency procedures. Provide first aid when necessary and monitor the health and wellness of the horses. Hoof Care and Trimming: While this is not a mandatory skill, any experience you have in trimming hooves and general hoof care will be highly valued and may be an essential part of the role. Guest Interaction: Work closely with ranch guests, including children, veterans, and first responders, to create a positive and healing environment. Lead therapeutic rides and activities that help improve mental and physical well-being. Qualifications: Experience with Horses: At least 10 years of experience working with horses, including riding and training green horses (those in early stages of training). Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, providing guidance and mentorship to staff and volunteers. Knowledge of Equine First Aid: Familiarity with equine first aid and emergency procedures is essential for ensuring the safety of both horses and participants. Strong Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with staff, guests, and volunteers. Outdoor Work Environment: Ability to work outdoors in a tropical, Caribbean environment and perform physical tasks such as lifting, grooming, and managing horses. Desire to Work with Children and Groups: Experience working with children and groups, especially in therapeutic or equine-assisted settings, is a plus. Additional Skills (a Plus): Trimming and hoof care experience Previous experience in leading equine therapy programs Experience working in a Caribbean environment Why Join Us?
