About The Position
Boutique style program in the midwest in need of a rider and trainer to support premier level showing. 24' and 25' shows include Capital Challenge, Harrisburg, Washington, The National, WEF, WEC, Brownland, TCHS and GLEF. Responsibilities include: -Riding and training all levels of horses and ponies in the program. We have short stirrup ponies through junior jumpers and derby horses. In addition, we typically have several green sale horses that are professionally owned. -Some teaching of students of all levels. All of our riders are highly committed to success and in full training programs. This is a shared responsibility with two other trainers. -Some horse care and general barn management. Responsibilities such as trailer being properly packed for horse shows, double checking that any daily medication has been administered, wounds have been doctored, etc. -Some road management, including keeping detailed records of billables at horse shows, preparing horses for students, giving medications, and clearly communicating with other staff so that show days run smoothly. -Occasional driving of truck and trailer, emergency care of horses, use of farm equipment, etc.
